Leeds Social Sciences Institute Impact Acceleration Account Showcase Event

The aim of this event is to bring together external partners, research users and scholars to explore ways of fostering collaborative knowledge generation, dissemination and its application. The intention is to showcase some of the benefits realised and impact derived from projects funded under the ESRC recognised Social Science Impact Acceleration Account (IAA). This fund is designed to support social science researchers in engaging with external partners to deliver tangible benefits and maximise the impact and influence of their research on society and the economy. The event will focus largely on research impacts in terms of policy, professional practice and public engagement. The afternoon event has been designed to be interactive and will include keynote presentations, panel debates, and more in-depth thematic focused sessions around which to explore new ideas. It will conclude with an informal networking reception which will include an exhibition featuring examples of research excellence with impact. One of the key aims is to highlight the relevance and broad impact of social science research on society and the economy.  We have invited some of our academics and their partners to share their experiences of being involved on impact focused project with a view to stimulating discussions around new topics such as Inclusive Growth and the opportunities presented by the recently launched Industrial Strategy.  A number of the IAA funded projects also have the potential to develop into REF impact case studies. Finally, it will be a great opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the many meaningful research collaborations established between our academics and external partners; to strengthen and build on these relationships and also facilitate new connections with business, policymakers, practitioners, and third sector organisations across the Leeds City Region and beyond. It would be great if you could join us at our impact showcase event, particularly if you are interested in finding out more about impact and the IAA.

The objective of the event is to provide a forum to showcase the breadth and depth of the impact that social sciences research focused on celebrating the success of impact projects supported through the LSSI IAA. A further aim of the event would be to strengthen and build on existing relationships and to facilitate new connections with external partners including business, policymakers, practitioners, third sector organisations across the Leeds City Region. It is primarily aimed at local and regional partners who have a shared interest in tackling the issues faced by society such as inequalities, migration, and security. It will create an opportunity to engage with our external partners and to highlight the relevance and broad impact of social science research on society and the economy and to share experiences of being involved on impact focused projects.
